Diesel Technology

West Kentucky Technical College Diesel Technology looks at the many benefits that can be obtained from modern techniques into the production and useage of bio diesel fuel for automobiles and machinery that use the diesel fuelled internal combustion engine. Traditional diesel fuel is produced from refined oil as part of the petrochemical industry.

However, when the first diesel engines were manufactured, they were designed to run on any heavy oil and primarily on vegetable derived oils which were cheap and easy to obtain the those days. Modern refinements to the petrochemical industry have meant that at least up until the turn of the 21st century, diesel fuel was cheaper and more cost effective to be produced from oil. However, that balance is swinging back to vegetable oil derivatives which are teh basis of the bio diesel technology for production of a renewable and sustainable fuel for this century.
